If there was one film which made the entire South Indian film fraternity sit up and notice it, it was Pelli Choopulu. Kshanam was a true noir thriller which was strong Telugu seed and heart. But the icing of the cake was Adivi Sesh who wrote and acted a beautiful film. Kshanam had strong performances especially Satyam Rajesh who played an short-tempered and upright cop and Anasuya who played a widowed police commissioner. A lot of viewers lauded Kshanam’s sharp cinematography (Shaniel Deo) and music (Sricharan Pakala). Kshanam was equally anchored by powerful technical excellence and splendid performances. Narrating a young NRI’s journey to India to help find his ex-girl friend’s kidnapped daughter, Kshanam had one of the best screenplays (Adivi Sesh,Ravikanth and Abburi Ravi) ever written which had strong emotional depth and constant moment.

The strength of Manamantha lies in its screenplay which drives each principal character to find their calling along with finding the true happiness and purpose of their life with inner churning. Meshing between the four stories briskly and seamlessly, Manamantha highlighted the fact that every person you come across in your life had a life, struggle and dream of their own and this world is a spider web of aspirations. Manamantha was an anthology film where it narrated fourstories of a ambitious store manager, a smitten engineering graduate, a coveting house-wife and a good Samaritan school girl. It was a story of people who slogged, struggled, pushed and most importantly dreamt to live a life with a smile on their face every moment. Starring the acting giant Mohan Lal and my favorite actress from the 90s, Manamantha was the story of your neighbourhood. Manamantha directed by Chandrasekhar Yeleti is my favorite Telugu film of 2016.
